Running on, captures this hare moving with purpose through the cool, misty light of an early morning. Its body is full of energy and momentum, while its gaze remains fixed forward, creating a strong feeling of determination and intent.

I wanted to capture more than the movement of the hare. There is thought, power and emotion within the way it runs, as though it knows exactly where it is going. The mist creates a sense of mystery around the hare, leaving the viewer to imagine what lies beyond its path.

Working on a square canvas gave me the opportunity to explore the composition differently, using the hare's movement to create a strong sense of direction through the painting. I also challenged myself to change the way I use my specially created palette knives, pushing the marks further and allowing them to become part of the movement and energy of the hare.

The warmth of the hare contrasts beautifully against the cool ground and misty morning colours. This contrast helps bring the hare forward from the landscape while giving the painting a feeling of warmth, life and quiet determination.

For me, this painting is about movement with purpose, confidence and pushing forward, both within the hare and within my own journey as an artist.
